Living at BCM children's home

It's heartwarming to know that there are many children living together in a children's home. Although most of them are boys, there are a few girls as well. To ensure everyone's comfort and privacy, boys and girls live separately and have their own entrance within the same building.

These children have their own daily chores and responsibilities, which include doing their own laundry and helping with cooking.

They also learn to sweep and mop the floor daily to keep their home clean and hygienic, especially with the fine and sticky sand in Uganda.

In the past, the children used to carry water in jerrycans from the well to their home. However, with their new home, they now have their own well on their land, which is connected to the house. When the plumbing is finished, the water will also be connected to the taps and showers inside. It's amazing how these children learn to adapt and make the most out of their circumstances.

Who they are ?

Every child living in the children's home has a unique story that deserves to be heard and understood. It's heartbreaking to know that all of these children have gone through some sort of trauma in their lives. However, what's remarkable is that they all respond to their experiences in their own ways. To help them heal, the children receive love and attention, and are encouraged to practice simple family values, such as "No one is left out" and "making mistakes is part of life, everyone needs to learn and forgive."

The children feel a sense of belonging and love at BCM, and they treat others with the same kindness they receive. At BCM, we make it a priority to keep track of each child's story, and we start researching for any living family members as soon as they arrive. Our efforts have resulted in reuniting over 70 children with their relatives in the past 5 years, while others have been placed in foster families. The reasons for children becoming homeless are many and vary; some have lost both their parents, while others have parents who reject them due to unfortunate circumstances, mental conditions, or superstitions.

Whatever the case, we provide a safe haven for these children, and we do everything in our power to help them find a loving home. Despite their challenges, the children love to participate in sports, such as soccer and volleyball, and play various games together. In the video below, you can see how they enjoy playing "..." together. It's amazing to see how resilient and hopeful these children are, and we are honored to be a part of their journey towards healing and happiness.

                 FOOT BALL

Our community has a great number of talented children who enjoy playing football. In order to support these children and nurture their talents, we have established a football academy that caters to their needs. The academy is free of charge and targets children who are particularly skilled in soccer. Our goal is to give these children the opportunity to showcase their talents and attract the attention of football clubs, agents, academies, and schools who can support them in their journey to success. We are proud to have participated in the UYFA national championship tournament in Uganda and emerged victorious. As a result of our efforts, one young boy who was living on the streets has been given the opportunity to attend school free of charge. This is just one of the many success stories that we aim to achieve through our football academy. However, in order to reach even more children and help them develop their skills, we need more support. We would be grateful to partner with any club, football academy, or agent who shares our vision and is willing to support the talents of these children. The game called kwepena.

Kwepena is played by 3 players at a time. The rest of the group is supporting the players.

Two players that through the ball, and try to hit the third player with it. The third player tries to avoid being hit, because his turn is over after that. When the ball hits him, he gets a second chance to stay in the game, by hitting one of the other two players back.
