How does the school system work in Uganda?

Children in Uganda can get education from the age of 3. They don't have a regular kindergarten. But children start their education as soon as they go to school. At that age, they learn to read and write.

From he age of 6, children are obligated to attend school. Parents can risk a fine if their children are not attending school between the age of 6 and 18 years.

the government of Uganda gives schools a subsidy to support parents to send their children to school. But even then school fees can vary according to the level of  education per 3 months. the difference in amount is due to how professionally the school teaches. The minimum standerd a school has, is that the teaching does need to be performed by a proffessional schoolteacher, but there needs to be at least one present in the team. Therefor there is much variety in performance of the children.

Besides the fees, parents pay for books, stationary and obligated school outfits with shoes.
